Continental’s aContact original equipment tire line has been designed specifically for autonomous vehicle fleets, prioritizing both safety and efficiency. These tires incorporate different Continental tire technologies, which help to minimize the overall cost per kilometer driven. Depending on customer requirements, the aContact can be equipped with extremely low rolling resistance. Or with a robust sidewall construction for maximum service life, high mileage, or exceptional aerodynamic efficiency to increase the battery range of autonomous vehicles.
Key Features
The aContact tire line integrates features from existing tire lines to meet the unique needs of original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Therefore, the tire line does not have a uniform tread pattern or specific tread, no special tread design or rubber compound. Customers can choose from Continental’s comprehensive portfolio of tire technologies.
Continental continues to collaborate with various manufacturers to define the best tire solutions for the evolving needs of autonomous driving.
For more than ten years, Continental's developers have been optimizing tires to achieve ever lower rolling resistance, low rolling noise and high mileage - without compromising on safety features. As a result, all Continental tires meet the requirements of electric vehicles and are also able to sustainably reduce emissions from combustion vehicles. This strategy is working: In 2023, for the first time all ten of the world's highest-volume manufacturers of fully electric vehicles relied on Continental's technological expertise as original equipment.
