ContiConnect sets new standards in tire management

In order to make fleets fit for the future, it is crucial to use digital solutions and networking technologies. Fleets can use the data they gain to improve their operations, increase efficiency, and meet increasing demands for transparency, such as delivery times.

The tire-related costs of a fleet are usually only two percent. However, tires have a significant impact on fuel, maintenance and repair costs, which can amount to up to 50 percent of the total costs in fleet operation. Premium tires, data-based service management and tire checks at the right time can significantly reduce the operating costs of a fleet.

We have improved and expanded our portfolio of digital solutions. In this way, we provide our customers with effective leverage to withstand growing cost pressure and further improve the sustainability of fleets.

We presented the latest generation of ContiConnect at the IAA Transportation 2024. Clarisa Doval, Head of Digital Solutions at Continental Tires, explains the benefits of the new sensor and how it works.

Three questions for Clarisa Doval

Our new tire sensor is a great all-rounder, and our tread depth measurement solution is the first of its kind to go into series production. In this way, we are setting standards.

The tread depth is determined using a new generation of tire sensors and AI-based algorithms.

The sensor measures the change in the radial acceleration of the tire. The following applies: the more flexible the rubber of the tread, the lower the tread depth. From the tire data determined in this way, conclusions can be drawn about the changed rolling behavior of the tire and thus about tire wear. The AI, in turn, uses tire specifications and tire mileage while taking into account vehicle-specific factors. From this, it creates a prediction of the tread depth of the tire and the expected mileage.

The App-based solution

The entry-level solution is ContiConnect Lite based on a mobile app. Customers can use it to experience the functionalities of the tire management system quickly and cost-effectively:
